Peregrines Suffer Three-Set Loss to St. Francis

HAMMOND, Ind. - The Purdue University Calumet volleyball dropped its sixth-straight match on Thursday night, falling to St. Francis (Ill.) 3-0 at the Fitness and Recreation Center. The Peregrines slide to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference with the loss. The Black and Gold struggled from the onset, as the Saints showed why they are sitting among the CCAC leaders. After a competitive start to the match, USF broke the game open with a 9-3 run to jump out to a 1-0 advantage. St. Francis claimed the next two, 25-10 and 25-17, thanks to .385 hitting to record the victory. Purdue Calumet managed just a .038 attack percentage in the contest, while surrendering 10 service aces. Ashley Eaves led the way for the Peregrines with eight kills on an impressive .444 hitting. Catherine Yoder added four kills, while LaTiana Harris led the squad with nine assists. Sarah Lawson continued her stellar defensive play, posting a match-high 18 digs. PUC will be back in action on Tuesday, October 2, when it hosts local rival Purdue North Central at the Fitness and Recreation Center for a 7 p.m. match. |
