Former South Suburban and Clark Standout Commits to PUC
HAMMOND, Ind. - Purdue University Calumet men's soccer coach James Drzewiecki landed another talented player for his already impressive 2012 recruiting class, as South Suburban's Juan L. Lopez agreed to continue his career with the Peregrines. Lopez becomes the 17th member of PUC's "Juan is a very important piece to our puzzle," said Drzewiecki. "When we look at a center forward, it’s important we find a player who can consistently involve his teammates and play very well with his back to goal. He doesn’t have to be flashy, but he has to be efficient. Juan is that player, and as such, he fits our system perfectly. We’re very happy to have him here." The 5-foot-10 forward spent the past two seasons at South Suburban College, helping the team to a 15-6 mark in 2011. He was the second-leading scorer for Bulldogs, tallying 14 goals and eight assists during his sophomore campaign. The Hammond native played at George Rogers Clark High School, leading the Pioneers in scoring as senior. Lopez is the son of Jose and Romelia Lopez and plans to major in criminal justice. |
