PUC Men’s Soccer Lands Second Standout from California
HAMMOND, Ind. – Purdue University Calumet men’s soccer coach James Drzewiecki received a commitment from another star player out of California, as Ryan McBride agreed to continue his career with the Peregrines. McBride becomes the 14th member of PUC’s 2012 recruiting class, as the program prepares for its first season in nearly two decades. “Ryan is a player we identified very early on in the recruiting cycle, and it’s a pleasure to finally bring him into the fold,” said Drzewiecki. “He’s one of those players who grows on you more and more as you watch him. He’s good at keeping things simple from the back, he has very good recovery speed, and has surprising ability in the air for his height. As he matures, we believe he can become an excellent center back for us.” The 5-foot-9 defender was a two-year starter at Liberty High School in Bakersfield, helping the Patriots to a 13-10-3 mark on the season. He is also a member of the Central California Blues club team, who claimed the Surf Cup a year ago and participated in the Dallas Cup the past three seasons. McBride is the son of Todd and Rhonda McBride and plans to major in mechanical engineering technology. |
