PUC Men’s Soccer Lands Commitment from Morton’s Jawayne Spence
HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Calumet men’s soccer team picked up another commitment this week, as Morton High School standout Jawayne Spence agreed to continue his playing career with the Peregrines. Spence becomes the 12th member of PUC’s 2012 recruiting class. “Jawayne might be the most underrated prep player in northwest Indiana right now,” said head coach James Drzewiecki. “He’s been an attacking player most of his life, but we believe his true potential lies at center back position. He’s a very humble young man and comes from a great family. He has the ability to become a very special player at the collegiate level.” The 6-foot forward was a three-year letterwinner for the Governors, earning First Team All-Great Lakes Athletic Conference honors as a senior. Spence also garnered Post Tribune Honorable Mention All-Area recognition and was named the team’s most valuable player. He is the son of Basil and Michelle Spence and plans to major in chemistry. |
