Purdue Calumet Men's Basketball Signs Seven Transfers
HAMMOND, Ind. - The Purdue University Calumet men's basketball program announces the signing of an outstanding group of seven transfers, as part of the team's 16-member recruiting class for the upcoming 2012-13 season. Roddy Richardson and Keenan Williams headline the group, which also includes guards Aaron Davis and Ian Harris along with forwards Dioscar Gomez and Tony Tolliver and center Jaime Burkhard. "With the recent expansion of the CCAC, it is imperative to upgrade our quality of depth," said head coach Dan Voudrie. "We believe this group does that, while putting us in a position to compete alongside the best teams in the conference." Below is the biographical information of all seven signees: JAIME BURKHARD Burkhard played in 18 games over the course of his two seasons at NCAA Div. II institution, Illinois Springfield. The 6-foot-8 post was a standout at Northrup High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he was a three-year letterwinner.
AARON DAVIS 6-0 | Guard | Peoria, Ill. | Willowbrook (Lincoln Land) Davis averaged 10.4 points 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for Lincoln Land Community College, while garnering Honorable Mention All-Mid-West Athletic Conference honors this past season. The Peoria, Ill. native was a three-time all-conference selection at Richwoods High School, leading the team to the state championship game in 2009-10.
DIOSCAR GOMEZ Gomez averaged 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Waubonsee to help the Chiefs clinch a share of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference. He connected on 57.0 percent of his shots from the field, including a team-leading 47.1 shooting from beyond the arc. The Miami, Fla. native was Second Team All-Dade County selection as a senior at Miami Sunset High School.
IAN HARRIS Harris transfers from NCAA Div. II's North Greenville University, where he averaged 3.1 points per game as a sophomore. He started his collegiate career at Lees-McRae College, after a successful prep career at Ragsdale High School in Greensboro, N.C.
RODDY RICHARDSON Richardson earned First Team All-CCAC and Honorable Mention NAIA Div. II All-America honors as a sophomore at local rival Calumet St. Joseph, leading the team in scoring with his 14.1 points per game. He ranked fifth in the conference with a 39.1 three-point field goal percentage, while also garnering NAIA Div. II Player of the Week accolades during the year. The Lafayette, Ind. native was an all-area and Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 selection at Jefferson High School.
TONY TOLLIVER Tolliver averaged 4.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore, while helping lead the Jaguars to the NJCAA Div. II Quarterfinals. Prior to his time at Danville, he starred at George Washington High School in Indianapolis, earning an invitation to compete in the East/West and Eric Gordon all-star games.
KEENAN WILLIAMS Williams tallied 7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore, helping lead the Bulldogs to a 33-4 overall record and a trip to the NJCAA Div. II semifinals. He also shot 57.1 percent from the field on the year. The E.C. Central product was a two-year letterwinner for head coach Abe Brown.
